Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a herb but, unlike a lot of other herbs, it’s an adaptogenic herb. It is a highly regarded root in Ayurvedic medicine. It has been employed as an adaptogen and tonic herb and is incorporated into many herbal formulations. Ashwagandha powder is ground from Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) roots. Ashwagandha root powder can be tinctured, added to culinary recipes, and encapsulated.

Also known as Indian ginseng or Withania somnifera, ashwagandha has a central and prominent place in Ayurvedic medicine and is widely used in Nepal and India, and other Asian countries. It is native to Nepal and some parts of India.

Visually, it’s a grey-colored shrub with yellow flowers and small red berries that contain yellow, kidney-shaped seeds. It’s usually the root that’s used medicinally after it has been dried and processed.
